How tough is it to remove crayon from carpet? With our easy-to-follow guide, it is not as hard as you might think.

How To Get Crayon Out Of CarpetKids love crayons—and for good reason. These colourful writing tools allow kids to express themselves in all kinds of creative ways. Sometimes, however, their imaginative works of art can end up wreaking havoc to your beautiful plush carpeting. Plus, if the crayon has melted, there is a good chance that it has moved deeper into the carpet fibres, making matters even worse. If you are worried about how to get rid of crayon from your carpet, don’t panic. SaraCares can help.

Here Is How To Get Melted Crayon Out Of Your Carpet

Step 1: Pick up the loose pieces of crayon. Put some ice cubes in a plastic bag, then apply it to the remaining soft pieces of crayon. This will freeze the bits of crayon, making it easier to remove. Using a butter knife, gently scrape up the pieces of crayon that have stuck to the carpet fibres. Vacuum the area to suck up as much of the crayon bits as possible.

Step 2: Place a brown paper bag over the stain. Run a warm iron over the paper bag, swapping it for new one once the bag has absorbed the crayon. Repeat as necessary until you have lifted out as much of the crayon as possible.

Step 3: Apply 1 tsp of liquid dish soap and a fingertip amount of lubricant (such as WD-40 or mineral oil) to the remaining melted crayon, using a damp towel. Blot the stained area with a clean towel. DO NOT SCRUB. Vigourously scrubbing the spot could spread the stain, turning a bad situation worse.

Step 4: Blot the area to rinse the carpet of the cleaning solution, using a clean towel soaked in warm water.

Step 5: Rinse the area with a fresh damp cloth. Vacuum the area once it has dried.

Getting crayon out of your beautiful carpets is a snap using these simple tricks of the trade. Unfortunately, sometimes, no matter what you use or how hard you try, you might not be able to remove troublesome stains like melted crayon from your carpet on your own. If that happens, you are going to need help from a professional carpet cleaning company.
