How to Get Coffee Stains Out of Carpet
Blot Up The Coffee
The first step you will need to take is to grab some paper towels or a dish cloth and gently blot the stain, absorbing as much of the coffee as you can. It is important not to scrub the area as this may spread the stain and push it deeper into carpet fibers, making it harder to remove.
Flush The Stain
Next, flush the stained area with one cup of cool water, blotting the area with a clean paper towel or dish cloth. Repeat this process until the coffee stain has lightened up from your carpet.
Prepare a Simple Cleaning Solution
After you have finished flushing the stain, fill a glass bowl with two cups of lukewarm water, adding 1/4 cup of lemon juice and a squirt of liquid dishwashing detergent. Mix the solution and begin gently rubbing the stain, starting from the outside, moving towards the center. Continue this procedure until the stain is gone.
Rinse The Area
Finally, rinse the area with some cool water and blot up the any additional moisture with a clean, dry towel. If the stain still remains, repeat the cleaning process until it is gone, allowing the carpet to air dry when you are finished.
When All Else Fails
Following these simple steps should help you remove coffee stains from carpet. In some cases, however, there are a number of stubborn stains that are resistant to many cleaning solutions. If that has happened, it may be time to call a professional carpet cleaner.
